What guitar strings do you recommend?

I have a Fender American Special Stratocaster , but I don't like the sound .. I want a really deep blues sound to it . Whenever I play it, I get a light tin sound . It's really annoying to see my old Indonesian Silvertone make a WAY better sound than a top of the line guitar . So , which string would you recommend ....
